Note: For those departing from Athens, you will stay overnight in a hotel near Madrid airport.
Havana
Arrival in Havana. After the necessary formalities, meeting with our Greek-speaking guide and transfer to the hotel. Check in to the rooms and free time for a first introduction to the city.
Havana - City tour
Breakfast at the hotel and then we depart for our tour of the most beautiful city in the Caribbean. We will start in Revolution Square with its huge portraits of Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos. Then we will pass by the University of Havana, cross the "modern" district of Vedado with its central Copelia Square and the famous Malecón promenade, ending up at the Capitol, a faithful copy of the one in Washington, D.C., United States. Our tour changes pace and we enter Old Havana, a cultural heritage of humanity and protected by UNESCO since 1982, home to some of the finest colonial buildings in the Caribbean. We will tour the rum museum where we will be offered a drink, visit the only Greek Orthodox church in the Caribbean, St. Nicholas, and then walk to St. Francis of Assisi Square, the Old Plaza, Arms Square and finally the Cathedral Square, the Templete "nave" and the Castillo de La Fuerza Real. Visit to the pirate fortress El Moro, in a magnificent position at the entrance of the port, with a panoramic view. Visit to Havana's largest bazaar, from where we will offer you an unforgettable ride in antique cars in the lush and exotic Havana forest. Lunch at a local restaurant. Return to the hotel and free rest of the day.
Havana - Full day trip to Vignales
After breakfast we depart for the majestic Vignales Valley, in Cuba's westernmost province, and Pinar del Rio, where the tobacco for the world's finest cigars is grown. A visit to a cigar manufacturing plant to see how they are processed. Our walk in the Vignales Valley will be unforgettable: green velvety hills known as mogotes (mogotes), which are found nowhere else in the world, emerge from the valley lush and almost eerie... towering palm trees, waterfalls and underground caves with rivers make up a magical landscape. A visit to the huge Mural of Prehistory and the Indian Cave, to cross its underground river in a small boat. Lunch at a local restaurant in a unique setting with live music. Returning to Havana, we will make a stop at the Los Hasmines Observatory with its magnificent view of the entire Vignales Valley. Arrival in Havana and free rest of the day.
Havana - Guam - Sienfuegos - Trinidad
Breakfast and room delivery. Road departure for the Zapata Peninsula in Guamá, Cuba's largest natural lake. Our drive takes us through the mangrove forest of Zapata, until we face the lacy Caribbean coastline of the Bay of Pigs (known for the eponymous failed American landing on the island in 1961). In "La Boca" is the "Crocodile Breeding Farm" which we will visit. These animals, an important part of Cuba's wildlife, are protected in their natural habitat from uncontrolled hunting. Our next stop is Cienfuegos, a city built in 1819 by French colonists and one of the country's most important ports. A panoramic tour of the town with a stop at the central square with its white statue of the goddess Athena, dominated by the Tomas Terry Theatre, the Town Hall and the classic University building. On the sea, on the narrow peninsula of "Punta Gorda" we will visit the "Palacio del Valle", a very impressive 100 year old building, an architectural masterpiece, a combination of romantic, gothic, Venetian and Moorish styles. From its cellars and imposing salons we will climb to the roof of the Palace, where the view of the city and the sunset is enchanting. Continue driving east to Trinidad, a city founded by the Spanish in the early 16th century, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. Arrive at our hotel on Ancon Beach and settle into our rooms. Dinner - Our hotel is on an All Inclusive plan (all meals and local drinks at your hotel are included in the price)
Trinidad, city tour
Breakfast and we start with a visit to the main square (Plaza Mayor) surrounded by colonial buildings, the "Museum of Colonial Architecture" and the traditional café La Canchánchara, where we will enjoy the local drink made of rum, honey and lemon that the colonialists gave to the slaves to get strength. Free time to stroll through the picturesque cobbled streets with their 10 colourful shops or shop in the open-air bazaars. Then back to the hotel and dinner.
Trinidad - Santa Clara - Cairo Santa Maria or Varadero
Breakfast and room delivery. Departure for Che Guevara's hometown of Santa Clara, a city directly associated with the great revolutionary. Visit to the Mausoleum and the Che Museum, in Leóncio Vidal Park. At the entrance to the mausoleum, the imposing bronze statue of Comandante, about 7 metres high, with a gun in his hand, dominates the entrance. (The statue was placed so that it faces south, towards Latin America, as a symbol of Che's vision of an anti-American revolution against imperialism. Highlights of Guevara's life and actions are shown in relief and his last letter to Fidel Castro is engraved in its entirety on a special inscription). Continue by road to the famous seaside resort of Varadero or the island of Cayo Santa Maria on the northern coastline. Arrival at the hotel and free time to relax on the magnificent coast with an All Inclusive program (all meals and local drinks at your hotel are included in the price).
Varadero or Cayo Santa Maria
All Inclusive diet. Two free days for swimming and relaxation. Optionally, you can choose from various optional water activities, diving, cruises and more.
Varadero or Cairo Santa Maria - Havana
Breakfast and room delivery. Time for one last time before departing by road back to Havana. Arrival and settling into the room. In the evening, we suggest you take a stroll through Habana Vieja and enjoy Ernest Hemingway's favorite drinks: daiquirí (daiquiri) at Floridita and mojito (mojito) at Bodeguita del Medio.
Havana
Breakfast and a free day to enjoy walks, museums and shopping in beautiful Havana.
