Known for its interior decoration from the Renaissance era as well as its outstanding art collection, the palace where Napoleon Bonaparte lived has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the charming Marais district on the right bank of the Seine, is the famous Center Georges Pompidou which houses the Museum of Contemporary & Modern Art. Walking towards the aristocratic Square of the Vosges, among some of the oldest mansions, you will come across the house of Victor Hugo. Coffee in one of the trendy cafés of the Marais, a stroll down the Rue de Rivoli, or a trip to the left bank of Saint-Michel. In the small bistros of the area around Notre Dame you can taste exquisite cheese fondue and delicious onion soups accompanied by fresh Beaujolais. Croissants and tarts aside, a visit to the bibliophile haven, Shakespeare and Company, will give you a taste of the most romantic side of Paris. An afternoon Kir Royal in the cafés next to the Hotel de Ville, frequented by the Surrealists is just what you need before you end up on the steps of the Sacre Coeur Basilica to enjoy one of the most romantic sunsets of your life.
