Description

Riga

Riga, with over a third of the country's population, is both the capital and the largest city in Latvia. One of the most important administrative, economic and cultural centres of the Baltic Sea, the city is located on the Bay of Riga with the Daugava River running through it.

Due to its strategic and scenic location, the city has been ruled by everyone from the Swedes and Poles to the Soviet Union throughout its history. As such, the former member of the Hanseatic League has a fascinating past to explore, with many impressive historical sites to discover.

In addition to the magnificent medieval Old Town, where you can find many of its main tourist attractions, the city boasts the highest number of Art Nouveau buildings in the world. With trendy bars, cool cafes and fantastic restaurants, as well as the nearby beaches at Jurmala to enjoy, there is no shortage of things to do in Riga.

Vilnius

Vilnius is not only the capital of Lithuania but also the centre of Europe. The city is located right in the centre of the continent - the geographical centre of Europe is just 26 kilometres from the centre of Vilnius.

With a population of 554 409 inhabitants Vilnius retains the feeling of a warm, friendly but open city that is home not only to Lithuanians but also to a large number of Russians, Poles, Jews and expatriates from Western Europe and the United States.

It is perhaps this mix of cosmopolitan life and local feeling that attracts more and more tourists and business travellers every year.

It is the closest city to the centre of the European continent, boasts the largest preserved Old Town in Eastern Europe, is filled with an incredible mix of architectural styles, has historical charm and offers all the amenities of a modern city. But really, none of these things capture the essence of Vilnius.

Vilnius has spirit. It is a city where a magical tapestry of charm and character weaves countless attractions together.

It is a city that is bustling with life and growth, but it is also rich in years of charm. It is a city of progress and eternal confidence.

It is also a city where people come together to live vibrantly, and joyfully, to create and prosper.

One thing is for sure - it is impossible to visit Vilnius without feeling its spirit, without feeling the echoes of history and the momentum of progress. You cannot leave without being fascinated by the beauty, mystery and magic of the city.

Tallinn

With surprises around every corner, Tallinn explodes with charm like no other European city. The Estonian capital is rich in history, but has all the modern offerings that tourists expect from a 21st century destination. The city is extremely photogenic, especially at midnight sunsets in the summer. And if you want to see the city at its best, plan your visit during the Estonian Song Festival. It brings together 30,000 of the best singers in Estonia on one stage every five years to create music that vibrates throughout the city. Tallinn's Old Town managed to preserve its medieval heritage during centuries of domination by foreign leaders, legally earning it UNESCO World Heritage designation . You can still walk through the ivy-covered Viru Gate, explore the Gothic Town Hall and walk along the city walls as others have done for hundreds of years. But you should take equal time to explore Tallinn's modern offerings. The city has Scandinavian-inspired restaurants, viewing platforms, lush parks and sweet shops . Plan your sightseeing around this captivating city with our list of things to do in Tallinn.
