Cairo - Alexandria, 5 days

Evening assembly at the airport and flight to Cairo. Arrival, transfer and check-in at the hotel of your choice.

After breakfast, full day tour of Cairo, starting with the Cairo archaeological museum. We continue with the imposing Pyramids of Giza, one of the seven wonders of the world, as well as the Sphinx. Stop at the Papyrus and perfume workshops, lunch at a Cairo restaurant. Next we will visit the National Museum of Egyptian Culture (NMEC). The new home of the Pharaohs. The room that houses the royal mummies has been designed so that the visitor feels like he is in a real royal tomb. Even the inscription on the ceiling is the same as that of the original burial monuments and it not only exhibits the mummies, but also all the objects found. We conclude our tour today with the bustling bazaar of Khan El Khalil. Rest of the day free.

After breakfast, full day excursion to Alexandria, the city founded and lived by Alexander the Great. We will see the Greek Patriarchate, the Hellenistic parish, the monument of Agn. Stratioti, the house where the Greek poet Cavafy lived and wrote in his last years as well as the unique gardens of Montaza that surround the summer palaces of the last King Farouk. Lunch at a restaurant in Alexandria and then we end up for a visit and inside tour of the new Library of Alexandria, a unique architectural achievement. Late afternoon return to Cairo.

After breakfast and for those who wish, optional visit to the ancient capital of Egypt, Memphis, where we will admire the famous alabaster sphinx and the colossus of Ramses II. We continue with the necropolis of Saqqara, 42 km from the center of Cairo. The necropolis of Saqqara is known for the first pyramid built in Egypt, known as the Step Pyramid, which was designed and built by the genius architect Imhotep for King Djoser.
